特征简述

多年生草本，有时为乔木状或灌木状；具鳞茎、球茎或根状茎；总状、穗状、圆锥或聚伞花序，若为伞形花序则地下茎为球茎且无葱蒜气味，可与石蒜科区别；花被片6，稀为4，离生或不同程度合生；雄蕊6，稀为4或3，子房上位，稀为下位(龙舌兰族Agaveae)，3室，中轴胎座；蒴果或浆果。
