特征描述

特征简述

多年生草本，稀一年生，通常具有芳香、匍匐或块状的根状茎；地上茎高大或很矮或无；叶基生或茎生，通常二行排列；花单生或组成穗状、总状或圆锥花序；花常为两性，通常两侧对称，具苞片；花被片6，2轮，外轮萼状，通常合生成管，内轮花冠状，美丽而柔嫩，基部合生成管状；退化雄蕊2-4，其中外轮的2枚称侧生退化雄蕊，呈花瓣状，齿状或不存在，内轮的2枚联合成一唇瓣，常十分显著而美丽，稀无；发育雄蕊1枚；子房下位，3室或1室；蒴果室背开裂或不规则开裂，或浆果状不开裂。
