棕榈目（Arecales）是被子植物的一个目，包含棕榈科（Arecaceae）和鼓槌草科（Dasypogonaceae）两个科。APG IV系统认为棕榈目属于核心被子植物中单子叶植物分支里的鸭跖草类，是该分支的基部群；多识被子植物系统因此将其置于百合亚纲百合超目之下。
词源
棕榈目的学名Arecales由槟榔属（属棕榈科）学名Areca的复合形式Arec-加上表示目的等级后缀-ales构成。该词为复数形式，故在做主语时应与动词的复数形式搭配。
本目中文名由“棕榈科”一名中的专名“棕榈”加上“目”字构成，最终来自于棕榈科中文名的基名属棕榈属（Trachycarpus）。
