本科中文名与模式属老鼠簕属中文名不一致。因为老鼠簕属非日本原产，故日本学者选用爵床属（Rostellularia）为本科命名，之后这一日文科名又被译为中文科名。

• Acanthea pharm. ex Wehmer (1911), nom. nud.为一裸名，仅1种“A. virilis”，原作者并不完全确定它属于爵床科，只是指出它入药叫muira puama，且有人认为这味药来自铁青树科的少花铁茉莉（Liriosma ovata = Dulacia inopiflora）。Muira puama今天一般来自铁青树科的铁元树（Ptychopetalum olacoides）的树皮。
• Anisacanthus C. Presl (1846), hom. illeg. non Nees (1842)为一晚出同名，仅1种A. geniculatus，尚未见有研究表明应归于何属。
• Tropicos数据库中的Calacanthus Kuntze (1891)不是新名称。
• Gymnophragma Lindau (1917)仅有发表时的两份标本，其原白也未能提供更多准确信息，难以确定是什么植物。兹拟名为“裸膜花属”，因其属名由gymno-(裸)和phragma(膜)构成。
• Idiacanthus Leonard未正式发表，仅有一份标注为“Idiacanthus boliviensis”的标本，存于密苏里植物园标本馆。而存放于美国国家标本馆的复份标本则被鉴定为穗序啄蕊花（Stenostephanus krukoffii）。
